The mission of the Morrill Engineering Program (MEP) is to empower African American, Hispanic, and Native American engineering students, support their success as scholars, and leverage a community of students, staff, and alumni to achieve excellence in engineering.
Since 2019, The Foundation has partnered with MEP to provide college scholarships. In 2024, MEP will begin paying out from the National Day of Love Community Scholarship Fund Endowment started by Charles & Diedre Banks for the following initiative:
Scholarships for Grainger College of Engineering to award to MEP students who demonstrate leadership, academic excellence, and financial need at the university.

We work with qualified organizations to sponsor their activities for National Day of Love®. National Day of Love® is held on the third Saturday in March each year.

A Celebration of Love Through Giving
National Day of Love®
National Day of Love® started in 2017 in Houston, Texas by The Banks Foundation, Inc. Each year, on the third Saturday in March, we celebrate love through giving. Since 2017, this celebration has grown to multiple states and awarded scholarships, school supplies, food, and educational sponsorships to help our communities. Get involved.

In 2017, we also started Love Awareness Month to teach others about love leading up to the National Day of Love®. On February 15 up to the third Saturday in March, we encourage people to learn about love and grow in their relationships through activities and valuable resources available at our ministry Elevated by Love Ministries.


Outreach is a nonprofit whose mission is to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be.
Outreach has been awarded a sponsorship for calendar year 2025 for the following initiatives:
General sponsorships for SALT Program students to visit colleges and learn about higher education
Love Awareness Month Kickoff for Staff & Students

Scholarship Winners Revealed!!
The Banks Foundation, Inc. provides scholarship funds to colleges in honor of the National Day of Love® (NDOL) to help support students. NDOL is held annually on the third Saturday of March. Students receive scholarships based on academics, community involvement, and leadership.

Community Partnerships
National Day of Love® Essay Contest for North Belt Elementary
Qualifying 5th graders at North Belt Elementary in Humble, Texas entered a voluntary essay contest for National Day Love® 2025. Winners will receive gift cards sponsored by The Banks Foundation, Inc. Our partnership with North Belt Elementary allows students to explore their writing abilities, earn prizes, and celebrate National Day of Love®.

Sponsorship at Outreach Community Center in Carols Stream, IL
The Banks Foundation, Inc. provided $3,000 to the SALT College Tour program at Outreach for students to visit colleges in pursuit of higher education. Students visited college campuses in March 2025 with chaperones as a group to explore higher education. Students who are exposed to higher education opportunities are more likely to pursue college degrees and contribute positively to society as a whole.

Teacher's Appreciation at North Belt Elementary
We partner with North Belt Elementary to identify and encourage love in our schools. Teacher's appreciation awards will be given to three teachers who demonstrate community involvement, a positive attitude, and diversity and inclusion. The three teachers at North Belt Elementary who receive the highest number of votes from the peers and school families will receive gift cards sponsored by The Banks Foundation, Inc.

Support College Scholarships
We have partnered with the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana Morrill Engineering Program to start an endowment called National Day of Love® Community Scholarship Fund in honor of National Day of Love®. Starting in 2022, donors can donate directly to the University of Illinois Morrill Engineering Program in honor of National Day of Love®. See how.
